The South Bronx has the highest rate of food insecurity in the country, 37 percent, compared to 16.6 for NYC as a whole. Here, Hullamatou Ceesay feeds one of her children with food from a local food bank. Most of America's hungry are native born, but new immigrants like this family from Gambia struggle too, taking meals from wherever they can find them.
