Photo by @shonephoto (Robbie Shone) - Blind cave crab (Cerberusa caeca). The loss of sight is an evolutionary response to living in total darkness underground in caves. It has been described as the world's "most highly cave-adapted species of crab”. Once we'd finished documenting it, we placed it back and watched it scuttle off sideways into the depths of a clear pool of water in Terikan River Cave, below the densely forested karstic terrain in Sarawak, the Malaysian part of the island of Borneo.
