This striking province sits north of the capital city of #Kabul and is home to approximately 150,000 people. The valley was heavily mined during ten year #Soviet occupation of Afghanistan from 1979-1989. Historically, the valley has avoided infiltration in part due to natural defenses provided by massive peaks that tower over the only road leading into the area. #land #mines #clearance #AFG #conflict #war
