Photograph by @paulnicklen. A Greenlandic hunter maintains control of his sled dogs near the community of Qaanaaq. He is getting his dogs to relax and catch their breath after a pull across the sea ice at one in the morning under 24 hours of daylight. They have a very close connection to their dogs. They are not scared of the whip but listen to it for commands. All I know is that these dogs love to pull. We are looking at the effects that sea ice loss due to a warming Arctic is having on their way of life.
