Photo by @joelsartore | Shot in the face and blinded near the Everglades last year, ‘Uno’ the Florida panther was rescued when he was found emaciated after trying to survive on roadkill for about six weeks. Unable to be returned to the wild, this endangered cat is now being cared for at the Naples Zoo. Though one of the rarest mammals on Earth (fewer than 180 remain), he was one of two Florida panthers shot in just the past nine months. In addition, 10 panthers were killed by vehicles so far in 2015.
