Photograph by @paulnicklen //During a rain storm, a lone dolphin leaps from the sea near the Phoenix Islands in the South Pacific. I photographed the original assignment for @natgeo on the Phoenix Islands in 2002 along with Greg Stone and others. These images and most importantly, Greg’s tireless energy helped create the largest Marine Protected Area in the world at the time. We need to create more of these if there is any chance of allowing our oceans to recover from overfishing and habitat destruction. @cristinamittermeier, @paulnicklen,@sea_legacy and @natgeo are teaming up with Pristine Seas in the #Arctic this spring and summer.
