Photo by @BrianSkerry A bottlenose dolphin ‘crater feeds’ in the Bahamas. In this location, this species of dolphin has created a unique feeding strategy in which they use echolocation (sonar) to find fish hiding beneath the sand. Once a fish is found, they invert their bodies and dig down to grab the fish in their mouth. One of the ways researchers know that dolphins are smart is by studying their creative feeding strategies. Check out the May issue of @natgeo for the latest info in our story about dolphin intelligence! @thephotosociety @natgeocreative #dolphins #bahamas #animalminds #smartanimals #marinemammals #NikonAmbassador #subal
