I often attend Sunday church service while on assignment as it is one of a few places where many people gather each week. I was struck by the very low turnout in Meliandou on this particular Sunday. I later learned that more people subscribe to traditional beliefs and healers than to the various Christian denominations brought by missionaries during the colonial period. Locals told me, however, that when the #Ebola outbreak was raging in Meliandou, the church was significantly more crowded. #onassignment #Africa #religion
