A famous local mime and longstanding resident of the Bywater, Miss Pearl is known for having an open house for low-income buskers and artists trying to stay afloat in the rapidly gentrifying neighborhoods surrounding the French Quarter. The Buskers Bunkhouse is always full of musicians, but is struggling to survive with the steep rise in property taxes since Hurricane Katrina.
