Photograph by @paulnicklen for @natgeo. The first time I met this huge, thousand pound, twelve foot long leopard seal, she raced over to me, opened up her mouth and engulfed my camera. She was establishing her dominance and I was happy to concede. I was initially terrified and to calm my nerves I started started photographing. My good friend, Goran Ehlme from Sweden, gave me some good advice….”if you get scared, close your eyes and she will go away, yah”.
