Photo by @TimLaman. Happy Mother’s day to all mom’s out there today. I’d like to especially honor a new mom Orangutan that I photographed last month in Borneo. This is the Bornean Orangutan Walimah in Gunung Palung National Park, Indonesia with her one month old baby. Every new wild orangutan baby is a ray of hope for the future of this highly endangered species. And this one is personally very special, because I have been photographing the mother Walimah since she was an infant herself in 1998. She is part of my wife Cheryl Knott’s long term research at Gunung Palung.
