My friend François Lagarde took this photograph of me, George Steinmetz, while flying an identical motorized paraglider over the Lisan Peninsula on the Jordanian side of the Dead Sea. François taught me how to fly, and we’ve been on more trips together than I can remember, but this one was unique. Most people go high to set altitude records, but here we set a world record for low… -1,401 ft. (-427m) below sea level.
