Photo by @stephenwilkes. Years ago, I had the good fortune to photograph the dismantling of the Bethlehem Steel plant. Steel from the Bethlehem Steel plant was used to create everything from battleships and armor during the World Wars, to some of America’s greatest landmarks. Hoover Dam, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Empire State Building, and the Chrysler Building were all erected using Bethlehem Steel. At the end of the 20th Century, amidst a shift away from industrial manufacturing in the U.S., the plant closed it’s doors for the last time. #steel #industrial #bethlehem #americanhistory #photography
