While people come from around the world to see this marble tomb, few pay notice of the river behind it that is one of the largest tributaries of the holy #Ganges. Today, the Yamuna is one of the most contaminated rivers in the world due to growing industry, heavy metal pollution and human waste. On our source to sea Ganges river expedition, we took water samples at this location and discovered the #water had zero dissolved oxygen and nitrates too high for our device to measure: signs of a dead river. @MountainWorld @thephotosociety #nature #tajmahal #chasingrivers #water
